On 12 June 2026, Charlotte and Jo joined the public launch of issue 70 of the Swiss feminist magazine Fem*Fém (read the table of contents here), dedicated to caring food systems (“Sorgende Ernährungssysteme/ Des Systèmes Alimentaires Soucieux”), at the Labyrinth bookshop in Basel. The event was attended by around 30 members of the public and featured an interactive round table discussion with the editors on food systems transformation through the lens of care. SWIFT’s contribution to the issue featured prominently, with two papers published in the magazine showcasing research from the project:
- Rooted agroecology networks – growing care through feminist agroecology by Joanna Bourke Martignoni, Charlotte Voigt, Els Hegger and Stefanie Lemke
- Rooted in care: How a non-mixed organisation is growing a new food ethic by Larissa da Silva Araujo
Both papers draw on the experiences of women-led initiatives active within SWIFT – Toekomstboeren (Netherlands) and Les Artichauts (Switzerland) – exploring how feminist agroecology and rooted networks connect with broader food systems transformation.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with the Fem*Fém editorial team and with Swiss-based feminist civil society and scholar-activists who are analysing food systems from a care perspective. It was a welcome occasion for building new networks and exchanging ideas about the role of feminist agroecology in creating more caring and sustainable food futures.
